BURLINGTON, MA - G. Thomas Clay has become CEO of Z Corporation, maker of the world's fastest 3D printers, following the company's merger with Contex Scanning Technology of Denmark. Previously president of Z Corporation, Clay will take charge of the company's strategic direction, operations, and financial management.

Clay succeeds Marina Hatsopoulos, Z Corp.'s founding CEO, who has accepted a seat on the Contex board of directors. Z Corp. is an independently operating Contex subsidiary.

"Tom is a proven strategist and leader who brings a wealth of experience to the CEO position," said Steen Borg, CEO of Contex. "He is unquestionably the right person to lead Z Corp on its mission to make 3D printing as fast, affordable, and easy to use as 2D printing."

Clay spent six years as Z Corp. president, leading the team that established global distribution, increased revenue by a factor of 50, achieved profitability five of the last six years, and drove development of industry's first high-definition 3D color printer and first affordable monochrome 3D printer. Prior to Z Corp. he was a management consultant and researcher with the Harvard Business School, and served as a Captain in the United States Army where he was an Airborne Ranger. He holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

"I am delighted to contribute to the success of the company on a new level, and honored to have the confidence of Contex," Clay said. "Z Corp.'s high-definition color 3D printers are poised to become the dominant output devices for 3D data in mechanical design, architecture, GIS, and medical markets. We plan to ensure that broad market adoption through new investment, innovation, and acquisition, and I look forward to leading that charge."
