NC State University presents award with focus on dedication and contribution to the state of North Carolina

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., February 23, 2011- Geomagic® CEO, Ping Fu, has been nominated as this year’s recipient of the William C. Friday Award, which will be presented in the Talley Student Center on the campus of North Carolina State University this Wednesday, February 23rd.  The event will also feature a presentation by Ms. Fu titled ‘Everything Is Waiting For You’.  The event is open to the public, and starts at 6:00pm.

“It is an honor to be nominated for this award and William Friday is one of my heroes,” says Ms. Fu. “This award celebrates all that is great about leadership, shared value, and entrepreneurship, and it showcases the thriving energy and innovation in North Carolina, and in particular, the Triangle.”    

The William C. Friday Award is presented annually by the senior class of the Park Scholars on behalf of the entire program.  The award is in honor of William C. Friday, who received his bachelor’s degree at North Carolina State University, as well as a law degree at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.  It is presented to an individual who promotes dedication and excellence in leadership, scholarship, character and service to the state of North Carolina.  Friday, now retired, continues to be a voice for North Carolina and hosts a public television show, North Carolina People.  Past winners of this award include NC State Chancellor Emeritus Larry Monteith, General Hugh Shelton, noted historian John Hope Franklin, SAS leaders Ann and Jim Goodnight, and Special Olympics of North Carolina CEO and President Keith L. Fishburne.
