Students Stand Out In ‘Future New’ Creative 3D Challenge
ROCK HILL, South Carolina –June 10, 2013 – 3D Systems (NYSE:DDD) announced today that in partnership with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the prestigious, national non-profit organization that presents The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, has recognized the first winners of its “Future New” category developed to challenge students to create bold and innovative art expressed through new mediums like 3D printing. The company is proud to announce that Amy Chen, Brianna Leatherbury, Ana Montesdeoca, Martin Schneider, Charlotte Hintz, Elbert Han, Andrew Van Buren, Gabrielle Ochoa and Madalin Beavers have each been recognized for this prestigious award for 2013.
Students across America submitted entries for the “Future New” challenge as they harnessed the latest 3D design tools like Cubify® Invent to unleash their creativity and bring their boundary breaking, conceptually and socially driven works to life.
2013 marks the 90th anniversary of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program, the nation’s longest-running educational initiative supporting student achievement in the visual and literary arts. The program has recognized countless young artists and writers including this year’s Alumni Achievement recipient, Zac Posen, whose trophy was 3D printed by 3D Systems.

Entries were judged on originality, technical skill and the emergence of personal voice. 3D Systems has awarded the top three entries in the “Future New” category with a $1,000 scholarship prize.
