• Working with 3D Systems, Delfin developed far more than a manufacturing relationship – they forged a long-term partnership for their chemical-pharmaceutical vacuum solutions.

In the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, cross contamination of outgoing products poses the greatest threat to product quality. But by complying with the strict rules established by GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), these threats are avoided.

That’s why, when Delfin looked to expand their production of industrial vacuums into the pharmaceutical sector, they had to ensure their products adhered to strict industry guidelines.

  • Meeting the Highest Quality Standards

This was when 3D Systems stepped in.

Combining our On Demand quick-to market manufacturing capabilities with the materials to suit, we worked with Delfin to find the solutions to adapt their products to fit this new sector.

Now, using CNC machining and various surface treatments, we produce three components specifically designed for Delfin’s Pneumatic Conveyors. Depending on the application, two materials are used, aluminum, or SS316L.

Our production of these parts follows the specific quality standards set out by Delfin, ensuring all quality checks are met - meaning they always have the compliant parts they require.

  • Growth Through Partnership

The value we add isn’t so much the knowledge of Delfin’s industry, but the knowledge of the manufacturing process. Delfin was already well established in the food industry but wanted to establish a presence in the pharmaceutical market.

In 2017, 3D Systems started by co-designing the project and manufacturing design – with the first goal of simply testing the market. The following year, with the product being well-received, distribution was stepped up and, in 2019, we went into full series production of the parts - with 2020 promising even further growth.

  • Time is of the Essence

From a manufacturing perspective, we were able to move rapidly. It took less than a week to define all the design aspects, less than two weeks to produce a fully functional prototype, and less than four weeks to start full operational production. This was made possible by a combination of 3D Systems’ On Demand service and the strong working partnership developed with Delfin.

We don’t just work as suppliers, we build lasting relationships.

“3D Systems is not only a supplier for Delfin but a real partner with whom we can co-design and manufacture to satisfy the needs of our main markets: food, chemical and pharma.”
